I am a ceramic artist and illustrator whose practice is rooted in storytelling, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the playful ways we make sense of the world. Working primarily in ceramics, I create objects that balance careful craftsmanship with spontaneous, doodle-like imagery, allowing humor, vulnerability, and imagination to exist alongside the traditions of functional and sculptural clay.
At the heart of my practice is a fascination with the parts of ourselves that are often quieted as we grow older. Curiosity without purpose, creativity without expectation, and the instinct to make simply because something feels worth exploring. I don't see playfulness as something childish that we are meant to outgrow, but as an important way of remaining connected to ourselves. Through hand-drawn imagery, familiar objects and visual narratives, I use ceramics as a space for storytelling.
Carefully constructed forms become surfaces for loose illustrations and unfolding narratives, creating a tension between control and spontaneity. I feel that relationship mirrors the way I approach both artmaking and life as I find ways to foster stability while leaving enough room for curiosity, experimentation, and surprise.
Beyond my studio practice, I teach ceramics and work within arts education and community-based creative programming. Teaching has become another extension of my belief in the importance of making, experimentation, and creative confidence. I am currently completing my BFA in Studio Art at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a focus in ceramics.
